The Estate and the HOTEL located in two original sharecropping farmhouse dating back to the 1400s, are surrounded by its 7 hectares of Chianti Classico Gallo Nero vineyards, 3 hectares of olive grove and 2 hectares of seed crops and woods. At an altitude of 450 metres above sea level, in soils consisting of “Galestro” marl and “Alberese” limestone, the grape varieties cultivated are mainly Sangiovese and complementary varieties like Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trebbiano and Malvasia; an excellent Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from approximately 300 olive trees. It is possible to taste our wines and oil at the hotel or directly at “Cantinetta del Belvedere di San Leonino”.
The “Cantinetta” is in the heart of old Castellina, in the medieval Via delle Volte; set in an old cellar, dating back to before 1400, it offers its customers guided tastings of a selection of the best Chianti Classico, IGT and Super Tuscan local wines, paired with typical local products and accompanied by seminars on the history of the area and the techniques used in the production of Chianti Classico wine and extra virgin olive oil.
