Setriolo is a small farm in Castellina in Chianti owned by the Soderi family, winemakers since the early 1900s. The vineyards cover 3.5 hectares with a clear predominance of Sangiovese. In contrast, the olive grove has 880 varieties of typical Tuscan trees. In the beginning, the company limited itself to selling only its grapes. However, following a project to enhance the terroir and production, the first vintage was bottled on the property in 2005. Setriolo’s philosophy is expressed in its logo image as a small family farm. It depicts the old olive tree that escaped the 1985 frost and the new vineyards planted around it, representing nature’s strength and closeness that supports our ideals.
Setriolo’s wines—a Chianti Classico and a Tuscan Red IGT —are made exclusively from grapes grown on the farm. Therefore, they must be able to convey the terroir’s characteristics and the countryside’s condition, which is not the same every year. For this reason, producing a Chianti Classico Riserva is planned only for the best years.
